Hosiery Heaven at Tabio

My Tabio purchase. I wore these tights with my red skirt with appliqued shapes in blue and yellow and a blue blouse. I felt rather like Supergirl.

I love tights. For me, they’re an essential daily fashion staple. So a surprise invite to the exclusive bloggers event at Japanese brand Tabio’s Kensington store was welcomed with great excitement and anticipation. I usually find myself alone at blogger events, so I was delighted to be attending with fellow bloggers and tights enthusiasts Faye of Fuyeme and Nilly of Cheri City.

After enjoying the greatest gelato in London (and probably the UK) at Gelupo (which I should seriously take the time to review on my blog!), we made our way to the Tabio store on Kensington High Street and on entrance were greeted by the most sincere and lovely staff I have ever encountered in a high street store.

More importantly, I was met by a surge of colour, shapes and textures in the form of tights, socks, sockettes and accessories – the main attraction of the event. As you may know, I’m crazy about colour, so I found myself instantly drawn to the brightly coloured opaque tights. I spoke at length to a member of staff about my hosiery needs (opaque, comfortable, colourful and long-lasting) and she assured me in great detail about Tabio’s quality; the type of knit adopted, the yarn used and the structure and design of the gusset all combining to make their tights the most comfortable and long lasting and available in a fantastic array of colours and prints.

We were invited to choose a pair a Tabio products to take away with us, compliments of Tabio and as I enthusiastically examined the collection of hosiery on offer, I was encouraged by the staff to really feel their products before choosing my gift. And so I did just that. If you’re not a tights aficionado, you may deem my excitement at being in a hosiery store rather ridiculous, but for me it was akin to being let loose in a chocolate shop.

There were stripy tights and polka dot tights, floral tights and jacquard tights, lacy tights and garter print tights and I could go on. And did I mention the socks?? Never have I drooled so much over socks.

I love these super sweet sockettes. Aren't they adorable?!

So you see why it took me forever to choose. Luckily our fabulous hosts made sure we were fed and watered throughout with lovely filled baguettes, buttery shortbread and plenty of Vitamin Water, making decision making a tasty experience.

These crochet socks remind me of my childhood. Perfect for wearing with Mary Jane's or T-bar shoes.

I could have spent much longer in the embrace of the beautiful tights and socks at Tabio, but alas I had to make my way to another event, so I had to make my choice. Being ridiculously indecisive, I found myself unable to choose from the opaque ribbed tights in mustard and the opaque tights in electric blue. So of course I chose one as my gift from Tabio and bought the other.

One of lovely staff at Tabio on Kensington High Street. I loved her outfit - the pleated skirt and adorable collar with a ribbon.

These are my very first Tabio tights, but if they are indeed of the quality and comfort that Tabio boast, I shall certainly be buying from them again and again.

My gift from Tabio. Opaque mustard ribbed tights. I love them!

  • Oh how I wish I’d been able to go to the Tabio event, even if for the free socks alone! Definitely getting into interesting hosiery… xx
